Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Itching Inside of Ear

Hi All,

I have noticed recently that bugs has been scratching the inside of his ear a lot (he is really getting his foot in there ) and also grooming them more than usual, I have checked his ears and they are clean, dont smell and no sign of infection. Any ideas, hes booked in for a checkup on the 18th when I will ask the vet to take a closer look. Or do think I should take him in today?

Could be ear mites or it could be an irritating bit of wax that is too deep down the ear canal to see with the naked eye.I'd get it checked before the 18th if you can :)

Fair enough, Ill give the vet a call, they usually see you same day so I let you know what they say. If it is wax is there anything I can do to help provent him from getting it again or is it just one of those things?

Wax is a perfectly normal finding, but sometimes if there is a lot of it it can be irritating. It's best not to be putting anything into the ear canals until the Vet has had a good look with the otoscope :)
