  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

what do your bunnies sleep on?

Young Bun
My rabbits sleep outside and even though they have a sleeping area we originally covered with hay, we abandoned this as they insisted on using this as their toilet and sleeping outside anyway:roll:. We give them a towel to lie on - is this adequate do you think? What do yours sleep on?

Our living room carpet, the hallway vinyl, a fleece in their dog crate, the lino in the dog crate.

Wherever they want to be

The lops have a folded duvet with fleece on top that they usually sleep on but sometimes they decide to forgo this to sleep on the lino (or my bed).

My lionheads can't be trusted with such things so just have a towel they gets changed regularly and a plastic dog bed. They normally snooze in the dog bed during the day and on the towel in the evening.

Munchkin sleeps on me
The girls sleep on top of a large cardboard box covered with a couple of fleeces in what used to be the dining room

They have carpet tiles that line the hutch and sleep on those, otherwise they sleep on their snugglesafes.

During the day Jess and Chlo sleep on the sofa. ;) At night they sleep on carpet or cuddle up on the hay if it's cold. ;)

Otis usually sleeps on the carpet but I keep finding him on the bed!! :)

Olive normally sleeps on the concrete which is where her run is - she is stupid!!! She has straw and shredded newspaper inside her hutch but likes outside best. She also has a digging box with bark in it which she no longer digs, she loves sleeping in there (it beats the concrete in my opinion).

Mine have enclosures, with hutches in them for shelter.
They sleep on TOP of the hutches, even though they have lovely warm straw and hay inside them. So, I put a sack on top of the hutch, with straw and hay up there so they can get snuggly. It's well sheltered, so I guess I don't blame them - they like to see what's going on!
