  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Yes it goes on weight:D
I think it is 1 syringe graduation per 2.5kg bodyweight.

I will remember that next time amy just order the rabbit 1 off vet uk i'm sure you told me before but i have a brain like a sieve

Actually, I think I have a bottle with a bit left in that you can have if you want it Sally? Don't think it'll be enough to do all of your buns though.

It does depend on the weight of your bun
I think each syringe is 5g and its 1 syringe graduation per 2.5kg (weight)
for 9 days if a routine dose.
If bun weighs more you would need 2 x syringes

If you are treating for EC you need a longer course than 9 days.

At the RWAF conference in Nottingham the vet talking about EC felt that the 9 day course 2-4 times a year is an utter waste of time and money. His view was that you should do a 28 day course once only but making sure that you thoroughly disinfect with bleach the area to clear it of ec spores during that time - and particularly on days 21 and 28. So if you use a grassed area, you should move it at the end of the course and not use that patch again for 6 more weeks to ensure that the spores have died off.
