I've heard of buns who are not eating/pooing much getting pineapple juice. How do you give it to them - in their water or in a separate dish?
Whenever Ive used it I use fresh pineapple cut into small chunks, they loooove it
I give it to them once a week when they are moulting
B&G have fresh pineapple once a month normally, just as a treat and they lick it until the part they are licking goes dry
Then they take it and nom it and lick the floor where its been!

*goes & checks for pineapple in the cupboard*
It would appear that Spenser does not like pineapple.
Spenser isn't seeing the vet until tomorrow. I'm not too worried as he is still eating and pooing, but he's clearly not 'right' so I want to have him checked over by a professional. I'll probably hold off from the pineapple juice until he sees the vet, but am bearing it in mind as an option. He's eating hay on and off, which is not bad for him. Thanks for all advice and opinions.
Personally I am not a believer in giving Pineapple Juice. I believe that the problems that the sugars it contains can cause, especially to a Bun in GI stasis or on antibiotics, by far outweighs any anecdotal benefit. I think syringing water with a good probiotic mixed in is of far more benefit. If I were to opt for giving Bromelain it would be in capsule form (open capsule and dissolve contents in water) rather than giving Pineapple for it's Bromelain content, ( which is only to be found in FRESH Pineapple and only in the STALK in significant amounts).
Just my opinion though
Spenser seems to agree with Jane. Pineapple juice does seem to work for many bunnies, and Spenser's vet encouraged me to try it, but his lordship would not touch his veg tonight although I only drizzled a tiny amount of the juice on it. A bowl of unadulterated veg met with immediate approval.
