My Snow Dogs

VikkiVet

Mama Doe
We got Jazz and Pepper in October, so this was their first Christmas with us. Think they enjoyed themselves, especially the new beds and all the snow.

Vicki - what lovely photos. I was wondering how they were doing. As I said on the other thread, I was delighted they could stay together and get a great home. Looks as though they have got their feet firmly under the table.

They are doing great, really lovely personalities and very cuddly and cute. Jazz is generally the calmer and better behaved one, Pepper has issues with recall, especially when on a scent! NY resolution is better training - i bought them the "its me or the dog" manual for Christmas. They also went off their food for a while, mainly because Dad switched them too fast and we removed the meat, so they are going back to their old diet for a month then slower weaning to JWB.

But overall they are fabulous - they fit into our family so, so well and are a delight to have around the house. Its like they've been there for years not months!

They came from a family local to me at vet school - marriage break-up meant the owner had to move house and couldnt find anywhere to rent that she could afford, allowed dogs and was near enough to her kids school. She really didnt want to give them up at all.

Mum and Dad finally decided they did want dogs, to keep them fit and for company, but middle to older aged dogs that would be settled in the house etc. So these girls were a perfect fit. They've never lived in the countryside before so they get really, really excited in the fields, hence the poor recall, but are otherwise very well socialised and great fun.

The owner really didnt want them going into rescue or kennels or to be split up, as she worried this would change their personalities, especially at their age (8 and 10/11). They do need a diet change and some training, and had to be vaccinated etc and Jazz has had a dental, but otherwise they are great.
