  • Please Note - Medical Advice

    Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

    You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

    We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

    Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

my kits

Just to let you all know the kits are doing great both have new homes where they will be going in 2 weeks when they are 8 weeks old :D

Have you informed the new owners that the kits were orphaned at four weeks and were recently exposed to coccidiosis and not received any treatment? The new owners may already have bunnies and coccidiosis is contagious. :(

They are fine no more symptoms nothing doing every thing they should be. . And the kit they have is coming on really well so i am happy

Just one question hun... why did somebody take one of the other little kits away from you when it was so little? I know they were orphaned but I was just wondering.

I'm glad the other two seem to be doing well though. Hopefully they will stay that way.

Me too. . They are getting very big. . And i am a bit confused some. . Because the people i got Rebecca and Alix i have found out just they were inbred. So i not too happy

:shock:

No wonder the kits have problems. None of the rabbits should really have been bred from in the first place... what kind of person would sell you inbred rabbits?!

:evil::evil:

Sadly this does happen - its why many people on this forum are anti breeding and is also the advantage of getting a rescue bun :D

Not that I support inbreeding, but its usually not as big of a deal as people make it out to be. Breeders do sometimes inbreed (line breed, I believe its called). I don't know much about it as I'm not a breeder, but if done *properly* it doesn't exactly mean the kits will be messed up or anything..
