  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

What could it be?

Hey :)

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas :)...mine was a lil bit too merry...'hic'...hence why I am still up at this ridiculous hour

Anyways...so Phoebe was spayed on 16th...all went well, wound looks all good and she is having her stitches out Thursday 30th. Yesterday though I notice that under the skin, exactly in the middle underneath the scar there is a round lump the size of say 4 peas put together :?

The lump only appeared yesterday and doesn't seem to be hurting her...I have gave it a squidge and its quite firm and doesn't move around. Any ideas what it could be?

Will keep an eye on it for now and ask the vets on Thurs...just wondering what on earth it could be though.

It sounds like a local reaction to the sutures. Obviously I cant be certain without feeling it.

The other possibility is that it's a hernia, but again to differentiate between the two I'd need to feel it.

It *sounds* to be more like the former, but I cant give you a guarantee

I'd call the Vet for advice if I were you :)
