New Kit
Hi,

Can anyone recommend a rabbit savvy vet in the Portsmouth area? I have a really poorly bunny and have lost all confidence in my normal vets.

I am willing to travel if necessary!

Thanks in advance!

Felicity

i used to go to animed..but vets keep leaving...or seem to.

NOW i go to downlands veterinary group in emsworth......just off the havant road.
gem recommended them to me:wave:

ive seen claire severtal times...bunsavvy vet...saski....willing to learn and consulted bristol rabbit clinic specialist for me.there are others there.

they even give zantac and pain meds as well as metaclop to buns with gi probs.

costs us bout £10 by taxi from horndean/clanfield.

if youve your own car then id say its worth it...BUT the emsworth one isnt the actual hospital...close enuff..but the big hospital is in bognor regis!!!
ive had buns kept in there over weekends too...emsworth that is.

sorry cant suggest anything nearer to you:(

Pablo Fuentes Bugnone at the Fareham Companion Care inside the P@H in Fareham (Park Gate). This is my vet. :)

Or Anthony Bielovich at the Portsmouth branch of Companion Care in the P@H.
Mackie Hobson is the best but only in the country twice a year sadly. :(

Thanks everyone for your advice!

I ended up going to Animed to see a bun savvy vet. He's been brill!

Yes I think Animed do take an interest in rabbit care, I go to Alver Veterinary Group and whilst they aren't exotics they are a very old established practice, I know a lady vet there herself has two rabbits, I've not had any problems really - I think they'd do well to have an exotics on board though, I'm quite surprised they haven't they are quite large and have 3 surgeries.

Animed is a large practice aswell, last time I spoke to a vet there she said that whilst they didn't have a specific exotics vet they do take an interest in rabbit medicine and are always aiming to be on the ball with it, both vet practices certainly don't have the attitude that 'it's just a rabbit', they understand it's as important a pet as a dog or cat which is reassuring.

I've never found anyone I trust as much as Claire at Downland

Glad you found someone good Felicity :D

claire is great i Agree..but the trouble is i hrdly get to see her..timing issues!

but at least there are a few vets at the main hospital i guess who are savvy?

good bunvets are sooo hard to find. glad youve found one.
