Biscuit is at Willow Farm RSPCA rehoming centre

http://www.rspcaoxfordshire.org.uk/adoptions.html?id=4&view=category[/url]). He has been with us for over a year now, and his beloved friend Snowdrop has just died which is why I would like to 'advertise' his need on the forum.

Biscuit is a 3 year old tan rabbit with uppy ears. He has been neutered and vaccinated against myxomatosis. He has been at Willow Farm for over a year now, and has recently been bereaved - his beloved friend Snowdrop died in early December. He and Snowdrop were everything to each other, which is why I think they were always overlooked by potential adopters - they were far more interested in each other than in people. He can be nervous of people, and has not been handled as much as we would like. However, he spent a short time at a foster's house, and in that time he became quite soppy, enjoying having his head stroked, so I am sure that in the right home he will become a very loving bunny.

He had very bad snuffles when he first arrived at Willow Fam, which sometimes flares up as a bout of sneezing, but other than that he is very healthy. I am worried about him now that Snowdrop has gone, and would love to see him paired up with another bunny and in a loving home where he will be accepted for who he is and given lots of loving attention.

Willow Farm RSPCA rehoming centre is on the Oxfordshire/Berkshire border, near Didcot. If you feel you can give Biscuit the loving home he so desperately needs, please ring us on 01235 821536.

Ive just logged onto the Oxford site. Snowdrop was quite a young bunny. How did she die? Biscuit is lovely a bun hope he finds a home soon

Both Biscuit and Snowdrop came to us with bad snuffles. Treatment decreased the severity of the snuffles, but they both were prone to fits of sneezing. In fact, Biscuit seemed the worst of the two if anything. I think the snuffles must have done some damage to Snowdrop - it seemed that overnight she started having difficulties breathing. Our vet couldn't find what was wrong, but she breathed as though she was panting all the time. We were going to take her to a specialist rabbit-vet, but she died before we could. It could be that the cold air exacerbated her problem, or that in her weakened state she couldn't cope with the sudden cold. I am so sorry that we couldn't make her better.

Now I am paranoid about Biscuit. We have moved him into more sheltered accommodation, but I would love more than anything to see him re-homed as a house rabbit. Of course, any adopter would have to be aware that he does have snuffles, and that he would probably pass this on to a companion bunny. Personally, I don't think this is too big a problem; I had the same situation when I adopted three snuffly-bunnies to go with my one boy. He got snuffles, we treated it, he got it again, we treated it, and for that last two years he has seemed to be immune. However, we are now considering a more aggressive approach to Biscuit's snuffles, and it may be that we can cure it (I do believe in miracles...).

Is there anybody out there, an experienced rabbit carer who would not expect too much from my poor sad Biscuit, who is a lovely bunny but is a little shy, who is looking for a male bunny to keep their female company? We know that Biscuit makes a devoted companion....

Biscuit at Willow Farm rehoming centre; needing a special home

Poor Biscuit is definitely mourning Snowdrop. He is not as interested in his food or the outside world as he normally is. A slight positive is that he is more affectionate to humans now that he has no other source of head-rubs. If nobody comes forward to offer him a home in the next couple of weeks we will try to bond him with a female bunny here, but we know from experience that bonded pairs are much harder to rehome than single bunnies (most people offering good rabbit-homes want a friend for their bunny), so I fear this will condem him to another year at Willow Farm.

Special home need for Biscuit at Willow Farm

Biscuit is a lovely male rabbit desperate for company since his mate died recently. Because he has chronic snuffles we need to find him a special home as a house rabbit and have been advised that he is homed as an only rabbit in case of cross infection. This means that it is going to be even more difficult to find him a home and he has been with us for a year already. We can’t understand why he and then mate Snowdrop have stayed with us so long as they were a perfect couple. Biscuit's new owners would need to be around a reasonable amount of time so he has company and does not get lonely like he is now. Please, Please can anyone help us to find a forever home for this lovely bunny!

Possible new friend for Biscuit

We now have a possible new friend for Biscuit who also has snuffles. If this works out we would be looking for a home for them both as house rabbits. they would make a sweet couple. Our only fear is that by bonding them it may doom them to stay with us for a long while as from our experiance pairs do not home very well compared to single rabbits.

So if you have a lonely snuffles bun please do get in touch with us as we may have the perfect partner.
