  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Does Mixy Jab have any side effects?

Bitzy

Mama Doe
Just been reading about the VHD side effects .......... does the mixy jab have any??

I didn't notice them being off colour or anything after their last one!?

The vaccine is designed to activate the rabbits immune system against a virus that is not a real threat. Because their immune system is active it may make them feel under the weather. This is a common side effect to all vaccines.

I haven't heard of any other side effects of the myxomatosis vaccine.

Hi both Parsnip and Pixie have been fine after their Myxi jabs. I do keep an eye on them though just in case. I usually keep a treat for them or something yummy just to make them feel happier but on the whole they are fine afterwords.

This is an old thread I did a while ago. You must remember of the three people that had bad reactions two are/have breed rabbits and lilbuns Tippex Porkychicken was unknown to be ill before the jab.

As for breeders having bad experiences with vaccines and spaying their buns, I can only think that breeders buns are more stressed/ill than pet buns, because it sure is rare for pet buns to have such bad reactions to these type of expensive treatments:D
