During the cold weather how do you interact with your bunnies?
Do you do whatever you would do during the summer months or do you bring them in for a few hours & put them outside again so that you can keep them tame?!!!!!!

I go with the first option (do as I do in summer).... which involves me getting VERY cold but the bunnies love it.:lol: It's not fair to bring them in as the change in temperature wouldn't be good, so I go out to them.

My outdoor pair don't like being picked up or fussed with too much, so I feed them and give them a fuss in the morning and then again at night. They only want me when I've got food

I go out and sit in the aviary with my boys every day, although if I'm doing a big clean they come into the conservatory where there's no heating, and they run around and play while I clean in peace

Mine aren't that bothered about me as they've got each other. i am there for food, sweeties, cleaning out litter trays and the occasional stroke.
They are always pleased to see me and will stampede over to me and stretch up very tall up past my knees  but it's only because I am the Bringer of Food

Same here!

It's good to know we have role in life :lol:

Having seen how totally happy they are, out in sub zero conditions and 8 inches of snow this week, I am not going to worry about them any more.
Anyway, I am there to serve, not to worry :?

Ok,the reason I asked was because I had an email today from a small pet company offering advice on how to keep your bunnies warm during this cold weather. One of their suggestions was to bring your bunny inside for a few hours whilst you put a heat pad under their straw. When I emailed back saying this was a bad idea & that you shouldn't bring bunnies in & out during the cold weather,I got a snotty reply saying people who keep their buns in garages & sheds bring their buns inside so they can bascically keep the bond or else they become untame & have to be rehomed-that was the gist of it anyway.I emailed back I stood my ground, politely, but it made me wonder, what people with outdoor buns do do during the winter.I have houserabbits so the only problem I have during the cold weather is to work out how to keep them awake when its so warm in here!!!

I don't spend as much time out as I do in the summer but I see them outside rather than bringing them in.
They don't really mind whether they see me or not as they have each other, but they have never been particularly 'tame' in that they like snuggles and picking up so it's not really a worry for me.

If I wanted snuggle buns and had put effort in to getting them comfortable with handling then I'd spend more time with them outside. I just don't think if I were them I'd like being taken out of my home and put inside when my owner felt like it then put back in the cold when my owner had had enough.

 If they are so worried about their buns becomeing 'untame' (whatever that means) then make the effort to spend time with them

My two are outside and I just shove some more layers on and go freeze  To be fair their wendyhouse isn't too cold.

The initials are D M rabbit accessories.Dont want to spell it out because its not fair but some people may get it from that.

Aaah right I know who you mean, they sent me the same email 4 times on Monday but I didn't actually read it - til now!!! Ggggrrrrrrrr!!

put the spare coat on the floor and sit on it they both like to c me out there and start to do binkies  i just think there laughing at me saying mama u got ice tea now  and icicles from ur nose:oops:

Mine are outside bunnies, but we live in Uganda where it's always nice and warm, so no problem going outside to spend time with the rabbits. :) I have a two year old (human!) and two rabbits, one is very sociable (Topsy) and comes up and nudges us for strokes, runs around with my little boy and even attempts to play football with him, Filthy, the other one (rabbit!) is extremely shy (new) so we are trying to calm him by ignoring him at the moment. I'm hoping he will learn we're not monsters from the other one!

Hahaha!! I love it!!

Mine are in a very cold outhouse and i spend as much time in there with them as i can but as soon as i think they've had enough, i get up to go and they start being cute. Sometimes i think it's so i'll play with them more. Other times i think because they like to see me freeze my botty off!!

Bramble is outside. I try not to let him come in the house during the winter, as the change in temperture is too much. I go and freeze outside with him. Normally let him out for a hop around the patio while I clean him out, which I've just done. Reheated his snugglesafe and put him back in his run with some treats.

I'm hoping to move him into the outbuilding at the weekend, so hopefully it won't be so cold and I'll get to spend more time with him :)
