  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

What on earth is it?

Ok just getting the bunnies ready for bed and have noticed that one of them (I THINK Cookie) has passed firstly some odd shaped droppings but that is not my major concern right now the next part is... there is something around an inch in length, not very wide, dark black (like dried blood) blending in to a bright red colour, is does not break when stretched, but it did leave what I think is fresh blood on my fingers.
I have tried taking a picture of it but they are not clear at all, you can not really make it out.
I will try and upload it anyway and see if anyone can make it out.
I think I will pop it in to the vets in the morning and see if they can shine any light on it.

I have a friend who's bun had blatterproblems. With her bun it started with a dropping just like this one. Please make sure the blatter is been checked on!

Jane- No not using Panacur atm.
Trice- It definatly was not a poo.

Spoke to and showed the nurse and she thinks it was a dried leaf? Like one from the Mountain Meadow herbs.
I did think about this and thought that the 'blood' that was left on my fingers could be the colouring of the leaf?
I asked her to show the vet as soon as she was avaliable and to call be if it was anything to worry about, I ahve not have a phone call so am assuming no news is good news!

Strange, my post vannished :?

I didn't mean poo, but with the bun of my friend it came along with some droppings. It was more like a bloodcloth.
Did you heared from the vet yet?

 That is what I thought it was when I first saw it bt hubby and the nurse and I am assuming the vet think it is a leaf and nothing to worry about, so I am just keeping a look out and if I find any more I will get them checked.
