Is it safe to bring our rabbit indoors ??

New Kit
Hi we had 2 rabbits until last week when we suffered a sudden bereavement and now we're down to 1.
Now were left with a rabbit who's needing a bit extra company until we find another companion.
She normally stays outside 24-7 in her hutch however seeing as we have a sudden cold snap and lots of rain & snow will it be ok to keep her indoors during the night for warmth and company??
I'm getting mixed advice on the change in temperatures but she has lost her friend and may not be able to keep as warm not to mention feeling lonely.
Thanks
Gary.

hello.
sorry but unless your able to keep her in till spring next year then no. the change in temp will be to much and its not good for her.
could you not get her a new partner or have her as a house bun? :)

We will be leaving her in her rear yard during the day where she has free run and her hutch if she wishes or is that still not advisable??
What about putting a hot water bottle in her hutch wrapped in a blanket to keep her warm??

I definitely wouldn't advise keeping a bunny in at night and out during the day during winter. It could cause major health problems. It really needs to be one or the other I'm afraid

ok thanks folks.
we're letting her have the odd half hour spell in the house with the kids just for a bit of play and stimulation.
but we will be leaving her in her hutch/back garden.
hopefully we'll be getting her a friend next week.
cheers
gary;)

if she is a outside bun then she will be proberly fine.
you can get a snuggle safe for her. basically you warm them up in the microwave and they stay warm for hours. pets at home sell them. a hot water bottle is a little dodgy as she might bite a hole in it.
what kind of set up does she live in? it might be possible to insulate it easily. people on here have loads of good ideas. :)

she has a 2 tier hutch similar to the one in the picture with plenty of hay in and an old horse throw covering roof and top tier to keep out the elements.

Good luck with your new addition. It's heart breaking to see them sad :(
Hopefully you'll have two snuggle bunnies very soon

i hav outdoor bunnies, and last night had to keep 2 of them indoors as one had a anaesthetic.
They both hated it. they were hot and stuffy and so uncomfortable. so i would advise either one or the other as you may find that your bun is just too uncomfy in the heat of the central heating!
