Taking bunnies to a different vet just for vaccs? U/D Booked in - ??expensive??

Dizzi and Rascal are due their booster vacs at the beginning of December and I was wondering about maybe booking them in with a vet that's local to me (5 mins drive) rather than taking them to their normal vet (45 min drive).

What do you think? A couple of people at work use the vets that I'm thinking of taking them to and highly recommend them - but they don't have a bunny expert as such .... could they mess up the vacs??

Just thinking it may be less stressful for the buns!?!

What would you do?

I choose to take mine further to the better vet, who costs a bit more. I trust his check overs at the beginning and that he will vaccinate successfully.

I have had vaccinations done by a 'lesser' vet prior to finding my current vet and we had a good few problems.

I don't think we can particularly answer what we would do in your situation as such because we don't know the full circumstances, vets involved, etc.

Same here I think it is really important to build a relationship with the vet, so they go there for everything even though it is further and more expensive

Oh blimey, sod that then!

I just thought it would be less traumatic for them having a 10 min round trip rather than a 90 min round trip that's all ..... however, if vacs can go wrong I'm not risking it and will take them to their normal rabbit savvy vet!

Thaaaaaaaanks!

I am in a similar position to you. Closer old vet is only 10 minutes away, new vet is about 25. But I choose to go to the new vet for two reasons (a) he does a more thorough checkup and (b) it's nearly all motorway so the bunnies get thrown around less in the car, the closer vet is urban streets and sometimes there can be a lot of traffic.

Booked them in to their normal rabbit savvy vet for their booster jabs on Sat morning! £25.65 each!! Does anyone else think that's expensive?

Am sure I didn't pay that per vaccination when they both got Myxi and VHD earlier in the year!!!

Hi
Does sound at the top end, I had heard between 15 and 25.
I phoned a vet who was recommended, £28 for each injection, no specialist "they all do small animals". Then I rang Medivet (funny enough someone else had posted so when I googled I got the post) and they charge £15.99 but its just gone up to £16.99.

£22.50 each here - or VHD + Myxi booked (not given) at the same time is £40.
