Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Worming rabbits? How?!!

tanya_306

Alpha Buck
I am hoping to get a new rabbit soon and have ben advised to worm my current buns. I am more than happy to do this, but I need to know how much to order.

If I ordered this....

http://www.vetuk.co.uk/rabbit-supplies-rabbit-wormers-c-649_651/panacur-rabbit-oral-paste-5g-p-1105

Would that be enough to worm one rabbit over 9 days? They are over 3kg each.

Finally, are there any risks with worming? For example, when my rabbit was vaccinated I was told there may be some side effects?

Thank you

Tanya.

Ok, the Panacur has arrived in the post today... so just a few questions to check I am doing it right!

I have the dosage sorted BUT ...

*Do I need to give it at a particular time?
*Does it have to be administered with food - before or after feeding time? (They are fed morning and night and eat that almost immediately then nibble on hay throughout the day).

Thanks

Tanya, Jessica and Chloe ;)

Thank you Jane!

I am hoping that my home-check goes well so that the girls will have another husbun. Just making sure the girls are as fit and well as they can be for the arrival of Mr Bun :) (He won't be living with them straight away. ;) )
