  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Runny poops

My oh has just noticed that Bernard is leaving runny poops.

We have given him some fibreplex in the hope that this will stop it. he seems like his normal self, doesn't seem to be in pain and has eaten his breakfast.

I am booking him in to be neutered tomorrow so should i wait until then to speak to the vet and see how he goes or shall i call the emergency vet now?

I don't suppose there is any harm in calling them today just to make sure but I want a second opinion as to whether this would count as an 'emergency'.

:( i'm worried

Hope you get on ok and it turns out nothing too serious - always better to be safe xx

Phoned the vet, he asked a few questions about his diet etc and think it could be down to us giving him some parsley yesterday as he isn't used to it.

The vet said that we should clean out his cage and if we have any further problems take him into the surgery tomorrow. Vet advised that it probably isn't anything to worry about as Bernard is behaving normally and doesn't seem to be in any pain.

Thank you for the advise I feel a lot happier now that I have spoken to the vet xx
