  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Barney Smells

When i got Barney last week he smelt really really bad:cry:
He had a bath but he is starting to smell again no way as bad as he did when he first got here but it is the same smell.
Do you think he could just have strong smelling wee?
Could it be because he has not had the snip?
He is now a house rabbit so is always clean:D
He is meant to be only 4 years old but it is like he is a really old man:)

Is there any thing that might help?

Entire Bucks do have strong smelling wee.

Has he had a Vet check ? It's important to rule out something like a UTI.

If he is fit and well he can be neutered.

He got checked over by the vet and he said to keep an eye on him for a week and i have already spoken to him about Barney getting the snip but will be in Jan:love:

LOL

yeah it probably is his "manly" smell! My boys occasionally have a sort of oniony whiff about them when they are particularily fiesty!

- and they were done years ago!
