  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Does anyone live close enough to drop off some Metacam that I will happily pay what ever for? I fear my rabbits in pain after his neuter and I don't want to wait till late after noon tomorrow (thats IF I can get any):(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

I'm really sorry I'm not near you, think your best bet is the vet as they will have pain relief and can check the wound for you

sorry Im not close either! and dont have any metacam. Id ring the vet & see them asap in the morning...unless they have 24 hr care & you can go now? Hope bunnies ok xxxx

I hope you can get some pain meds tomorrow. I'm sure your little guy will be ok tonight and then you can get him some stuff for tomorrow. I can tell how worried you must be.

Very. He seems a lot happier this morning (Thumper) but I still think his stitches need taking a look at by the vet, I need to check them myself in a minute.

Did you get this sorted? Milton Keynes vet hospital has 24 hour care if you are worried. We are only in the next town but couldn't give you prescription meds without the consent of a vet.

HORRAR! woke up at 7am to get ready (thats early for me btw;)) Phoned the Vets a 8am, got booked in for when they open at 9am in my local one in Willen (5 minute drive away!) And they were REALLY good. They checked Thumper out, his wound is clean and healthy and healing well apparently :) They asked a few questions about how he is, and although he wasn't "in pain" I insisted he be given some more pain killers because he's a big grumpy along with other signs, so they gave him an injection. I kept him in my room while I went to work, and came back to a room full of rabbit poo and a litter tray with plenty of wet hemp! He's happy as anything and I think the pain killers helped. Hopefully he wont need any more now, I think he was okay this morning, just suffering a bit yesterday. I'm just releaved everythings ok :)
