  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Soft poos after neuter?

Yesterday Thumper had his neuter and it went very well. He ate and drank straight away. Weeing and pooing as soon as I got him home, and he was bouncy all night until I turned the light off, then he went to sleep too (I kept him in over night like advised) This morning I've noticed he's done a fair few soft poos. Do you think its a problem or do you think it's because of his ordeal last night, the pain killers, anesthetic, antibiotics and the stuff vets give them to keep their gut moving? Slightly concerned about it. He seems happy and healthy atm though.

From when I posted this thread (10/20 minutes ago) he seems to be pooing normally again, it must have only seen through the night, is this anything to worry about?

It sounds like maybe they were cecatroph poos if he is pooing normally now?

I would say that's fine because he will be sore and uncomfortable and feeling low can stop them eating them. I would probably make sure he has metacam for the next few days to help his recovery.
