I've been looking at bunny boarding where I live and basically its rubbish.
Interested in what you all do with your buns when you go away?
More polls/questions may follow..... yes my little brain is ticking over with ideas

from now on i will leave Ste in charge when i visit brum. before pearl got ill we used to bring the buns to visit Stes family. when i came alone to visit Ste the buns went to my moms and once they went to hopper haven to board when stes mom got married.

other than visiting Scotland/Birmingham i dont have holidays so dont need to worry about the buns being cared for :D

I'm away at uni a lot and my mum looks after them then. When my mum is away as well then they go to a boarders.
(I voted boarding in the poll)

Why did you choose the boarding place they go to? Are they rabbit specialist or take all animals?

I have a friend who comes in every day who panders to my phoning up every day to check everything's alright.

Ha ha ha. Not sure I can comment:lol:. We left 150 animals in the care of 2 very good friends. They have had plenty of training and 1 is a vets nurse and the other worked on a sanctuary for 10 years. We did leave 5 pages of instructions for them and rang them twice a day. I was very stressed!

We have never put our animals into boarding even when we had a few.

I think I'd prefer someone to come round. I know a lot of companies will come round to tend to animals for a very reasonable fee these days (my friend is about the same rate as boarding but will drive round to clients homes to walk dogs, clean out bunnies administer meds that they might need or whatever and she always insists on meeting the owners and animals beforehand).

I think they may take some small animals too (hammies etc) but mostly rabbits. The lady there seems to know and care a lot about bunnies, she has rabbits of her own. The hutches for the boarders seemed really good and the service is not too pricey!

When we are on holiday, they go to boarding, and then I know they are in very safe hands ;).

When its just an overnight, or two, then we ask my OH's parents to come round twice a day to feed them and check on them, and let them in to their runs and then put them away at night. They are very good and I trust them to check with us if they had any worries.

I couldnt do it for longer than a night or two though, i worry about them the whole time....

I voted boarding but it depends, when I go home, as I will do next May, they will go to a boarder, but if I go away for the weekend they stay at home and my sister will look after them

they did go to boarding but no will be staying at home and a friend will be pet sitting for us, there will be a long list of instructions

Mine went to stay with Auntie Tracy at Rabbit and Guinea Pig Welfare :D. But I did go and see where they'd be staying before I booked them in because I'd never met Tracy until that point (I'm very fussy ). As soon as I saw how spotlessly clean and well looked after all her 'inmates' were, I could tell they'd be in safe hands. She also came with a recommendation from our vet (we see the same vet).

I think it's essential to check out boarding facilities - especially if they've not been recommended by another bunny savvy individual. You need to see where they'll be staying and to know that the person caring for them totally understands about rabbit health and behaviour. And I also think it's important that the bunny boarder will take them to a decent vet if they're ill. Don't be worried about asking questions or asking to see their facilities - if the boarder is loathe to answer, can't answer or refuses to show you around then run away as fast as you can and take your precious babies with you.

We use Tracy too ;)

If its just a weekend then Bungle goes to my Mums and then she nips over to mine to feed them for me.

If its a proper holiday I use Lynne at Holiday Hutches, she is brilliant with them.

We have someone in to look after them, as we have the 2 dogs, 11 cats, 3 rats and 2 hamsters as well so it's just a lot easier. She's very good and knows to take them to the vets if she's at all worried about them :)

We rarely go away for more than 2 days - when we have done before, we left the girls with their nanna and they all stayed here to look after Lucky.

We went for 3 nights once and my MIL came twice a day to check on them but tbh, and now there;s 2 of them, they'll def be boarding. Although she cleaned the litter ttrays the 2 days we werent here, it wasnt right.

If i cant find anywhere i like, we wont go away.

go on holiday! and leave the pets! *faints*

we don't go away, no way i could leave them. :)

Waited till after our holiday before we got a rabbit (big trip, no money to go away for a while!). I haven't been to my parents for ages because I don't want to leave him with the OH yet, not till I'm sure he can follow my instructions to the letter!!
If we go away, then he may have to board, I will however ask here and visit first, no where I don't feel comfortable with or that doesn't make sure they've had their injections.
