Not very happy or impressed :(

Today Thumper was due in for his VHD jab (as well as a house rebuild ;) ). I got to the vets in side Pets at Home where he is currently registered at. Firstly she struggled to give him his jab, retrying the process atleast 4 times...Thumper didn't even move so I'm not sure why she kept "re-arranging" where she was going to do it. Then she was a bit sour and blunt when she was talking to me, starting to sound like she was rushing the procedure and get me out of the vet door asap. I asked her if she could quickly check to see if his nails needed a trim (not asking her to do so) and she refused. She also couldn't tell me which VHD jab she was going to administor until it was done and she also wasn't aware of any side effects that the VHD could cause.

To put it pretty straight forward....I've decided I'm moving vets.

I've been told PAH vets is :censored: and well after today...I totally agree!

I am not too surprised I am afraid:( But then saying that, I have seen some hopeless vets in my time bunt never one who cant do a simple jab into the scruff:shock:

Which one did the silly :censored: use on you poor bun?

I think Milton Keynes Veterinary Group has a bunny savvy vet - ask Hellsdarkrose or Hugo's There. Alternatively, Towcester Vet has a bunny specialist - Sue Jennings. I travel a bit further and go to The Cat and Rabbit Care Clinic in Duston, Northampton. Although it's a half hour drive, they're absolutely worth their weight in gold and I can't recommend them highly enough. Simon and Kim Maddock are well known and respected bunny vets - several people on this forum use them.

Poor Thumper!

Spenser had his myxi yestedray, and his vet was very nice to him as always. I'm not sure how ultra rabbit savvy they are, but I think I would be happy to use them if I decided to get Spenser neutered next Spring.

Spenser had cylap VHD in May, and was a bit off-colour. He wasn't totally off his food, but did have a local reaction on the back of his neck. He picked up fine in a couple of days.

I think quite a few people on here prefer lapinject, but many vets use cyplap as standard and it can be awkward/expensive/ to get lapinject ordered in. Depends on the vet, but maybe something to bear in mind if you are sussing out a potential new vet.

I agree :) Thumper seems fine from it, when we got home he has a nap for about 2 hours while I rebuilt his new house. Then once I had finished it he came out for a mooch and hasn't gone back in since. Last night was his first time being aloud to go into his run during night time. Now it is all secure I let him roam between the two :) He seems pretty happy about it, and is still eating fine :D
