hi there, as you know iv had bunnys for many years all are vaccinated and all (4) are neutered. dora is a chinchilla coloured nethie cross she is 5.5yrs old several months ago she started limping while she was staying at mums (we were away for a weekend) mum took her to the vets (very rabbit savvy vet) who took x rays (thinking athritus) which came back as normal then after feeling a lot found her illo-sacral ligament sorry if iv spelt that wrong was damaged on the left side this seemed at the time to make sense she seemed not in pain but was having problems walking and jumping although hopping along or running caused no issues to her(when using both legs) any way she was put on cage rest for 12 weeks ( this meant confining her originally to a hutch then gradually allowing her space on a flat level on soft flooring indoors, she initially got a bit better then seemeed to make herself worse by stomping all the time on the bad leg and moving the soft flooring eventually we felt keeping her in a smaller space wasnt doing her and good and she didnt seem any better or worse and has good and bad days and wasnt in pain so we let her back out in the garden and hutch,
any way this last week iv been away on honeymoon and mum agian had her and noticed her right leg had gotten bad also seemingly twisted, any way she made a vet appointment for her with the specialist rabbit vet for the next day and then had to cancel it as dora was well again and hopping as before.....since iv returned iv also noticed she is lower to ground than normal at the rear and is weeing (not every day but sometimes) on her one leg which i then bathe, she has been overdue on her vhd injection as we were advised not to give a rabbit who was unwell and with ligament/muscular issues the vaccine.. i have just made an appointment to see my vets(not as good as mums) about her legs as she seems to have good and bad days and now both legs or her rear end seems affected sorry to go on so long any ideas? iv thought possibly ec but then by now untreated i would have expected more problems and head tilt, iv thought trapped nerve or tumour then realised tumours would show up on x rays, so any ideas? and why some days is it ok and others not ok ..its def not athritus as x rays were clear. she is eating weeing pooping and happy in all other ways x
