Welcome to the forum :)

You will need to check the babies daily to ensure all are alive and healthy. When they get to 10-14 days their eyes will start to open and you will need to watch to ensure that all eyes open and none close again. If any close again, or they haven't opened by 14 days then you need to get a vet check.

Mum will need unlimited food to ensure she has enough to produce milk.

Babies will also need to be kept warm. Is the nest good? Lots of fur?

When did you separate mum and dad? Was it after the babies arrived? If so, you can expect another litter in 30-32 days after the first lot were born.

Well done for being so responsible and doing your best to sort this out.

Hi and welcome:wave: as above really just check them daily and remember to rub your hands in the other side of the hutch first before touching the babies as a different smell may upset mum.Do you know what you will do with the babies?

hubby is needing some talking round but defently keeping a sow :) he worrys about cost ie vets
sorry if my words are wrong im used to guinea pigs so to me its boar, sow, bubs :)

It sounds like you're doing a grand job :)

Girls are called does, boys are called bucks, and as you rightly identified, babies are called kits :) I knew what you meant though, so no worries.

You won't be able to sex them just yet, although some people say that any vocal ones are likely to be male, and that if you hold them up and they wee, the spirting ones are boys and the dribbling ones are girls.

They are absolutely gorgeously gorgeous :D Take lots of photos and videos if you can because they will change so fast.

Given mu mis so comfortable with you checking them, you should be able to easily have a quick hold and stroke of them and then pop them back. Once their eyes are open you will be able to get them out for longer to socialise them :)

ok thank you so much for all advice i feel at last im doing some thing right was so worried i would get it wrong and loss kits, like i said im used to guinea pigs and there young are so much diffrent , looking forward to a little hold tomorrow :D

Oh yes, they are completely different from bunnies when it comes to their young. These need to be with mum until at least 8 weeks ideally, although you may need to separate them when she has the next lot (if she has them).

Keep asking questions, but more importantly, keep posting pictures :D

ETA- there are some crucial points when you would expect to lose kits, and if it happens, its not always something that could have been prevented.

updated pics of the kits :) everyone is doing great all eyes open and Benjis off to the vets Tuesday (sorry the pics are not great but its hard to photo wriggle kits on your own lol )
