  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

what can this be please??

Hi All, i have a 7 year old male dwarf lop, always been very fit , last nite and today he seems to have problems eating, when he eats he seems to have to put his head up, and also drops some of his food, i have looked at his teeth and all seems ok, vet booked for monday morning, but does anyone know what it maybe??? maybe somthing to do with the little chaps throat?
many thanks glen

The vet will be able to say for certain but it sounds like either teeth problems or a breathing problem.

Personally I would get him checked out for breathing problems ASAP.

I agree with this.

Also, you won't be able to check in his mouth and check his molars yourself unless you have an otoscope and been taught how to use one, so if you've only been able to check his incisors at the front, that won't tell you much about his molars.

OMG wow thanks for the very quick reply, the wife and I feel better now, he is breathing ok, he has been running around last nite and today, and as i have read about the back teeth we both did think that, many thanks for all your help , glen .
