Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Young Bun
hi i have a rabbit i was given who is 3ish but i bought a 5/6month old one today and she has quite a big tummy, as my other one is older am not sure if this is normal...?? could she have gotten pregnant before i got her or is it usual? thanks
xx

Could you post some pics maybe?

A big tummy could be an indication of some sort of gut problem. Pregnancy would be a possibility, but an unlikely one because generally they don't tend to show when they are pregnant due to being a prey species (although obviously that's a general rule, not the be all and end all).

How is the bunny acting? eating? drinking? pooing? Weeing?

she seems to be ok shes eating and pooing ok. as i only got her today to me shes acting normal but could be different to usual. she still runs around although she seems to keep going into her bed and rarely coming out. you cant see a bump but when you hold her its big, i dont know whether to see how she goes through the week... xx
