  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Buttons is undergoing exploration surgury tomorrow morning :( the vets cant find anything wrong with him, he hasnt eaten or poohed properly in over a week now but seems happy in himself, his been in and out of the vets all week and on wednesday we had a round trip of 250miles to take him to John Chitty who seems to be higly recomended. has anyone had this happen before and if so what did it turn out to be? his had blood test and x-rays and the only thing showing is what is thought to be a calcified lymph node but he thinks that might just be a red herring and not the cause :(

we went to vist him this afternoon and he is eating again, we took him his favoriates baby corn and dill and he ate loads of it :) What it was that they found was calcium that had gone hard around some threads of stitching inside him had caught around his intestings, the stitching was from when he was nutererd. he removed it and has sent it away to find out for sure what it is, hopefully he will be coming home the early part of this week :)
