  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Ash is finally two stones lighter!

I finally pucked up the balls (sorry about the pun) to take Ash to the vet and get him castrated, . At the moment he still really hates me, (proved by nipping me when i tryed to give him a treat). Hes eating a little hay but refuses any excel pellets he was given gut stimulate (even warmed with some water). Hoping the vets will give him some Bio lapis or something to get him to eat!

Was that done today?

You have some MAJOR sucking up to do!

Does he normally eat any fresh? If so you can give him some of that. He may take a while to eat normally but the facthe is eating hay is great. Drinking is also super important. If he normally has a bottle, then give him a bowl because that can help hydrate him faster.

It was done yesterday, just did some bonding with him! I lie on the floor in the corridor and he'll come over and investigate why im lying on the floor! And licks me so I hope that means everything is all forgiven. Vet said hes fine to travel from south london to paddington train station then to bristol at christmas.

Has he had any pain meds? It sounds like he may be uncomfortable if he is not eating normally this long after his neuter.
