  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Biolapis Administration-Hows Best to Give It?

Does anyone know how biolapis should be administered?

I have been given some for Poppy whilst she is on penicillin. I have been told to make up a sachet with water and give her 25ml in morning and 25ml in evening.

However, she shares her water with Peter and doesn't drink much. Does she need to have the whole thing or is just a little bit ok. I have been trying to syringe it into her mouth but most of it doesn't go in and 25mls seems a lot all at once for a little bunny (well, not that little but still).

When I have used it, I have doubled it up, and let both rabbits drink it. Can't do the other one any harm. Or, you could mix it up, soak pellets in it, and make sure just the one rabbit eats it? Just some ideas I have used.

from what i understand they cant overdose on it....make it up as per instructions and so long as shes drinking some water its fine:D i find they like the taste of it anyway:roll:

When Hayden was ill I just syringed it. She took it really well and licked it up as I think she liked the taste. I syringed roughly 10-15 ml at a time as it does seem alot in one go. I used a 1ml syringe and syringed it slowly. It was quite draining and time consuming though.
