Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Watery eye after myxi jab

bunny babe

Wise Old Thumper
Cass had a watery eye the day after her myxi jab last Thursday (I think she had this after her last one too and I got some Tiacil-different vet). I called the vet and he said that this was not an unusual reaction after a jab.

I called again today as it is still slightly watery and was told that to give it another week and if it was still the same take her back.

Her eye is not swollen or gungy just one eye watering slightly.

Has any other bun had a similar reaction?

Is the fluid clear or white?

It could be simply co-incidence and Cass has managed to poke her eye at the same time by accident. Nino had a watery eye last week, it dried up over a few days with no adverse effects. No myxi jab beforehand though. Some soft tissue swelling in the respiratory linings post vaccination I suppose is not surprising in some buns. :?

It is just her fur is wet so clear, you can't really see it running. It just seems a coincidence that a few days after her last myxi she got a runny eye too.

Hmm, maybe it could just be coincidence. She is absolutely fine in herself otherwise.

If it is still like that Thurs (which will be a week) I will take her back. Obviously if any worse I will take her straight away.
