Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Dental check up?

Peter is going for a dental check up later. He had his last dental two weeks tomorrow.

I am so nervous. He has been going three weeks between dentals and the vet doesn't think it is a good idea to keep doing them. :( I am hoping his mouth is clear, but after three weeks he stops eating and starts dribbling. I am worried that after two weeks the vet will see signs. :(

Lots of good teeth vibes for Peter please. xx

Sending vibes for Peter xx

Sometimes the time between dentals can be lengthened by burring the offending tooth/teeth right back to the gum. It doesn't always work, but it's certainly worth a go

Poor little guy :( I went through this with my dental bun Archie when he was having dentals a few weeks apart, the time between his dentals eventually did increase to 6 weeks. Fingers crossed for Peter and lots of vibes xx

The vet said Peter HASN'T got any spurs yet. His mouth is sore but not ulcerated. He may have an infected mouth - that is why the vet thinks he has gone off his food this evening. :?

He is back on pain killers and antibiotics for ten days.

Fingers crossed for atleast another two weeks of a spur free mouth. ;)
