Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Orange Stains After Neuter

SkegMag

Warren Scout
Noticed three or four small, pale orange/yellow stains on Sukie's vetbed after his neuter today. Is this usual or ought I to panic?

could it be iodene transfer? (that a sterilising liquid they somethimes use on the wound site, its terrible for staining and transfering on to things)

Thank you for your quick response, blue_vix. I hope you're right and it is iodine. He's been home since 4pm and the stains have only appeared the last hour. I'm new to all this so I really don't know what to expect. You've eased my mind a little, though. Many thanks.

Just felt it, Becca24, and it's liquid not mucusy - each patch is quite wet. Maybe it IS little wees? Sorry to be gross, but I had a quick sniff and there's no smell to it at all. (thought I might be able to detect an iodine smell)

Still the most likely thing I'd have thought - if he wees in just one spot it will only be a small patch on the surface, the blob will spread out underneath because the vetbed soaks it all away from the surface :)

Definitely sounds like wees then :)

Ok so I've started breathing again - I'm pretty certain it's wee.
Thanks for helping, guys. Everyone on this forum is SO helpful - don't know what I would have done without you all these last few weeks lol!

I'm like a mother hen clucking round him and he's like so 8) scoffing, hopping around, pooing and now (apparently) weeing to his hearts content:)
