Radio 4 - Woman's Hour - from 10am Today The Rise of the Rabbit as a House Pet

She just said that they don't want to let the other bunny out, as they would make babies basically.

She has a 2 yr old doe who isn't spayed? :roll:

Have i missed something?
 
Stupid woman Heather - the breeder says she'd never sell a pair because they'll rip each other apart! She recommends a teddy bear for company instead FFS.

Luckily Brigette strongly disagreed with the woman.
 
oooh I was seething at the breeders comments!! she never sells pairs! and suggests a teddy bear for company. How can you be so ignorant about animal you claim to adore :censored::censored::censored:
 
Good effort Brigette, but shame on you Heather.

This is why so many people who go to some breeders (the woman was a show breeder) get the wrong information as this woman clearly really believed what she was saying!

There is so much misinformation out there, it's so worrying.

I think Radio 4 need to do a followup.

Being dumb, i've read things about Brigette Lord, but dont know who she is? :oops:

A very good bunny vet who has a rabbit specialism and who speaks on the subject.
 
That Heather woman was a nightmare! She said she has 50 bunnies, presumably all kept singly and missing out on bunny companionship, all unneutered ... and, although she didn't say it, perhaps all kept in the usual small, breeder-style hutches and carted about to shows :(

Sounds a bit disappointing - will definitely make use of the email address to suggest a follow up.

I spoke to Brigitte Lord yesterday! She phoned me to pass on her condolences about Benji (she'd been treating him) and to ask how Paddy was doing. She's a lovely person. :)
 
i will listen to this later i sent a comment last time on the jeremy vine show ,



alot of breeders are so against neutering and pairing up makes me so angry there is enoughinfo and piccies online proving this isnt so,
