Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Good Vets in Milton Keynes

Hey guys. There are load of vets in Milton Keynes area. Any one no of any good vets that have good experience with rabbits and are relatively cheap? Its so I can get their jabs done and think about getting them neutered/spayed in the neer future. Thanks! :)

There is suppose to be a rabbit specialist in Bletchley as part of the Milton Keynes veterinary hospital. I haven't seen her but do use the hospital as my out of hours emergency vet and they are wonderful. However they are very pricey. Nearly £100 for a rabbit spay.

If you are our side of MK then our vets in leighton Buzzard neuter for £65 and vaccinations are reasonably cheap. If you are the other side of MK and don';t mind a small journey there is a good rabbit clinic in Duston, northampton :)

Well I no Pets at home neuter for £55 and spay for £70. All jabs at £20, chipping at £20 etc

I no they'de do lots of work on rabbits but my only concern is whether they're actually good or not. You hear so many things about their fish and animals I only hope their reputation doesn't follow the same way!

I also live on the other side, Newport Pagnell :)

Please don't use pets at home they are awful in MK. We took in a rabbit last year that had been there. She had extensive uterine cancer which had spread to her mammary glands, and these tumours had gone on to abscess. It is truly the most horrific thing I had seen. the vet at MK gave her baytril and said she would be OK. Our vet pts the next day saying she was suffering terribly. :(

they also continue to mis sex rabbits too.

I would suggest the cat and rabbit clinic in Duston, although I have no idea of prices.

If you're in Newport Pagnell, it's probably only a 20 minute journey to Duston in Northampton where I take my bunnies. I can't recommend the Cat and Rabbit Care Clinic highly enough. Simon and Kim treat only cats and rabbits (plus a few guinea pigs) and are well known specialists in and out of the area. Not sure what their neuter costs are because I've not had any done for a few years now but their jabs are not the cheapest. However, due to the care they receive and the complete MOT at the time of jabs, I'm happy to pay the costs.

Their consultation fees are very reasonably priced though, as is most routine or emergency care.

I also know of a bunny specialist at Towcester Vets in (unsurprisingly) Towcester. It only takes me 15-20 mins to get there from North MK. Sue Jennings is their bunny vet but I've not been to her so I don't know how good she actually is.

Hello I am new to this forum and also newly moved to the Milton Keynes area.(8 mths)
We take our boys (Bob & Billy- *hello* ) to the Willow Vets in Newport Pagnell. They have always been brilliant but they have just employed an exotic specialist vet. He is an aussie (I think) called Richard and he is very knowledgeable and gave us loads of great advice. The surgery have lots of ideas in the pipeline for helping bunny owners. I will let you know what they are if you are interested?

Companion Care vets who are inside the P@H stores are completely different from P@H they are a different company entirly who just lease space in P@H (which makes good business sense) I volunteer at one of their practices which a couple of members on here go to in Norwich, before I started working there I was a customer, I had been to a few different vets in the area but the vet there is the best I have seen, he is fantastic with rabbits!

Obviously someone has posted that the vets in MK P@H isn't very good, but the same cannot be same for all the Companion Care vets, like any where there are good and bad practices! I cannot comment on my views on P@H though

Just saying :D
Hope you find somewhere good soon
