Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fur missing behind my rabbits ears

Dommy

Warren Scout
just noticed behind Lola's ears on her neck theres like clumps of fur missing and i can clear see her skin, its like fairly big bald spots slightly bigger than a 2 pound coin, and its behind both ears. she seems fine shes not behaving any differently. shes bonded with another rabbit and hes fine, no missing fur or anything. is this something to be concerned about?

shes bonded with charlie and he still humps her sometimes and can nip her back i wondered if he done that to her neck.

thanks for any replies

Could be mites, fur pulling from partner bun or something else, odd moult, ringworm etc. Best to get bunny checked over by a vet as if it is mites treatment will be needed and bun will need to be thoroughly examined as it is often a sign of hidden ill health.

well her skin isnt flakey atall, looks completely normal to me. I'll have to take her vets then

One of mine came with no fur on her neck and small cuts, from the humping and fur pulling of her sister.

well shes got no cut, her skins all pink and healthy looking. its directly behind her ears where her fur is usualy quite fine anyways.

he doesnt really groom her much its definatly the otherway round, and yeah theyre both neutered
