  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Benji's test results ....

myrabbitbenji

Young Bun
Following on from my other threads ...

He had a blood test which was normal other than a high level of liver enzymes - although this could have been attributable to the steriod injection he had last Thursday

He had x-rays of his abdomen which revealed nothing untoward

When sedated she had a good look in his mouth and other than one sharp point he had no dental problems

As he was sedated she was able to get a better feel of his abdomen - she cannot be sure but thinks he could have some thickening of the abdomen - she said she cannot be sure as this could be normal for him but she has her suspicions in the back of her mind

He is on Metacam and Baytril now for a few days and we will see what happens

Any advice / help as I just dont know what to make of it all and im really worried as dont want Benji to suffer

I'm so sorry, I don't have the expertise to try and say what wrong, I would suggest a gut stimulant such as metaclopromide as you mentioned he was only on pain killer and antibiotics. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will post soon.

Sending loads of vibes for Benji xxx

Thank you for your replies, means a lot

Just checked him and he is munching on pellets - he hasn't shown any interest in pellets for a whole week now

Jenefina - Benji has had a course of gut stimulants - he had the first injection last thurs, followed by one on sat, one on monday
