Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Chloe had her dental yesterday and I rang the vet last night because she didn't seem right. When I got home from work tonight she still had not had a poop, wee or ate any food. I took her to the vets and she had an injection (painkiller I think). The vet said she seemed bright but we needed to get her eating.

She has nibbled a bit of cucumber and has had about 10 syringe fulls of critical care! She loved it and was starving!!

Anyway, as I got Chloe ready to go to the vets I went out to check on Peter. He ate his breakfast and seemed bright this morning. Hte didn't eat his tea. :(
When I checked on him I noticed he was dribbling. VETS I thought!! My husband said he probably just had a drink ....

anyway took him to the vets and he has spurrs AGAIN. :(

He had his last dental three weeks tomorrow and the one before that was 2 weeks. :(

He is dribbling lots. Vet said to give him some painkiller and critical care. He isn't eating anything. The vet said prognosis doesn't look good and she will ring the rabbit specialist who operated on him last time. :(

He has a misaligned jaw so food doesnt help wear his teeth down.

What are my options? He is my baby and only just turned 13 months.

Thanks in advance

Sorry to hear about your buns. I have four dental buns. One is okay for now, Shadow has misaligned teeth and needs them trimming monthly and i've two buns suffering with bad spurs at the moment. I'm going for general this week. My vet has said this is likely to be a lifelong problem and require ongoing dentals and eye antibiotics.

I think there is the option of taking teeth out, but buns can struggle without them sometimes. I don't know what else to suggest apart from keep going for the dentals and administering pain relief etc. I hope you little ones get better.

Hope someone else can give you some more detailed help and advice xxxxx

Sorry for being ignorant about this. But I'm new to rabbit, just had one last week as a gift and I'd like to learn more about them. So just a question, what do you mean by dribbling? TIA

He has a wet chin and sounds likes he is slapping his lips together. :(

Vet is just about to ring to give me an update about what should happen next (with Peter). She said prognosis was not good yesterday. :(

I feel sick. :( :( :(
