Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I'm so worried. Please help! Myxi?

Yesterday my mum was holding Blossom and I was holding Jasper and they were next to each other, they are going to be re bonded again soon as Blossom got spayed last week. I just thought it would be nice for them to see each other as they got on so well before Blossom's spay but Jasper leaned over and bit Blossom! He bites when he wants attention. :( He caught the bottom of her eye. Well today Blossom had a bit of crust on the bottom of her eye and white puss. My mum cleaned it and she is going to vets on thursday as needs her spay check up. I'm so worried it might be myxi! Jasper is vaccinated but Blossom isn't cos I only got her 2 weeks ago and was going to get it done after her spay so it's not too much stress. It's just one eye, we've cleaned it but I'm soooo worried. What should I do? :(

Its a nasty bite.....a vets attention is needed.Thats what I think.
Vibes it heals up with antibiotics.xxxx

You said he bit her under her eye...and now its crusty and pus filled.
If it wasnt there before the bite, I would say its as a result of the bite.xxx

Yes that's what I thought when I saw her eye this morning. :( But when I was reading up about myxi, it said if there's puss in the eye, it probably is it and it's got me all worried. :(

Thanks, I'm not too nervous now but poor girl, it must hurt. :( I was shocked with Jasper, he's girl mad! I didn't expect him to hurt her. :(

Its possible its abcessed.
Im no vet though....and if bunny isnt vacced, it could be Myxi.I have no idea...
I dont think she can be vacced or speyed until it gets cleared up.
Is there any other indications towards myxi??Swollen genitalia??Whats the other eye like??

She was spayed last week, it will just be a check up. ;) No other signs, other eye is fine.

I'd get her to the vet today
A bite near the eye can be serious if left untreated and the fact that there is pus being produced indicates the fact that infection is already present. The Vet will need to check that the cornea of the eye has not been scratched as this could lead to a corneal ulcer.

Good luck xx

Sounds like the poor girl has an infected bite- take her to the vet as Jacks-Jane suggested. Infections are much easier to treat if caught early.

Thanks. Just thought I'd let you all know that Blossom's eye is much better today. Not red and no puss. :) I think maybe it was just sore after he bit her but it doesn't look infected now. My mum was going to take her to the vets today as I was at school but decided not to as didn't see the need. We will check if it's ok on Thursday when we take her but it looks no different to her other eye now. :D

It's good that it does't look as bad but you really ought to take her to the vets for a proper look at it. As Jane has said, there could be damage to the cornea and only the vet can tell (they put flourescent liquid in the eye and then look with a light). If it's scratched it will need immediate antibiotics.

I would not risk your bunny's eye to be honest and would go to the vet today.

I would pop in at the vets to get it checked out , you really can't risk these things with buns they are such fragile little things :(
