Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Normal for bunny...?

Mikasu

New Kit
Hi, is it normal for a bunny to not respond to any food at all while it's sleeping or being sleepy? My rabbit used to dash over when I rustle the pellets bag, but now when he seems tired, he doesn't respond to any food I offer him. He's somewaht active in the morning and at night, but not as much as he used to be, as he used to be somewhat active in the day as well. I have taken him to the vet previously because he wasn't eating and they prescribed critical care, metacam and gut stimulant. He ate this morning, as well as last night, and I suspect he'll probably eat at night too...but is it healthy for a bunny not to eat during the day? Thanks for any responses :]

A Rabbit should eat throughout the day, mainly hay/grass.

If your Rabbit is not eating as much as normal and is less active then I would get him back to the Vet ASAP.

What are his poos like and is he drinking a normal amount ?

As Jane said rabbits should 'graze' throughout the day, they should not turn their nose up when it comes to food!
I would advise you to take him back to the vets, he could be in the early stages of statis.

Make sure he stays hydrated, so if he is not drinking much you will need to syringe him, I would advise you to use a cooled boiled herbal tea, such as nettle or peppermint. This will help hydrate the contents of his gut and prevent a blockage.
