uh-oh, my maggies having babies??

Young Bun
well last month my 4 and a bit month old male 'hooch' managed to get in with my 4 month female 'maggie'. the vet said they should be fine as they cant produce anything untill around 6 months. since then i have been reading up lots on the internet and found out they can produce from 12 weeks!!

on wednesday 25th august i found my maggie had started to make a nest with fur etc, as the days went on i thought this may just be phantom as i read they do this a few days before giving birth. she hasnt put on weight but normally she stamps at me when i clean, brush her and put her in the run but there hasnt been any of this and shes been so gentle, almost like a different bunny.
a week later and there still wasnt anything but today-9 days after she started to nest- i was about to remove the nest (was going to box it up just incase it was needed) but as we were having cuddles i could feel loads of movement in her belly. hubby just thought i was being paranoid but he felt it too. so i have left the nest in with her.

i know what to look out for like the plump bellys and that i will prob never see mum with them (ive searched loads on the net the last few hours ) but im just really worried for her, i feel so helpless :( xx

gosh shes young be having babies but accidents happen.as long as shes got plenty of hay, straw food and water she will do the rest herself.just keep a close eye on her with her being young.i wouldnt handle her realy if you feel babies as you dont want to hurt them.they arent related at all are they?sorry cant be much more help:)

yep shes got extra food bedding etc i have been checking on her every now and again and she seems fine with this she even comes for a smooth (not like her atall) no they aren't related mums a dwarf lionhead and not sure what type of lop dad is (pics below) x

 she is gorgeous.dad looks like a dwarf lop so youl get some lionlop babies.fingers crossed all goes well.how long has she got left?

After she's had the babies and they're all weaned etc you could consider having the boy neutered and your girl spayed so they can be kept together without her getting pregnant again.

What will you do with all the babies eventually? Will you try and give them all away or will you keep some?

Nothing to add really, just loads of 'not pregnant' vibes! Oh, and I really would recommend changing your vet. Look round for one who specialises in 'exotics'.

hi thank you. she was due to be spayed next week and the boy next month. looks like the boy will be going now next week. wanted them done intime for the winter so they could go in together.
stupidly i didnt note the date that it happened but from what i have read hopefully just a few days. id love to keep them (this time will learn from my mistakes!!) but depends how many she has also my friend has been wanting a rabbit again (her last one she had from a child) so she will have one. x

I would seriously reconsider changing your vet, if there was no misunderstanding and he said that there could be no pregnancy before six months.
