my rabbit is 28 weeks and not fertile, well not that i know anyway is there any way of knowing whether he is , and should i be worried if hes not?
Thanks.

I don't really understand the question to be honest? Do you mean that you can't find any testicles?

Does he live on his own? Are you planning on using him for breeding? Or is it just that you're concerned because he doesn't seem to have matured?

well...

Infertility in male rabbits is rare, which is why rabbits 'breed like rabbits'.

Most people would be relieved if their male rabbit was infertile, but it seems unlikely.

What makes you think he's infertile? Has a vet said so? Is he living with an un-spayed female who has not (so far) had a litter?

Were you hoping to breed from him? There are a massive number of lovely buns in rescues awaiting loving homes, so breeding more is not usually a good idea...

There are health and behaviour reasons to get male rabbits neutered (aggression, excessive humping and moodiness), and female rabbits spayed (womb cancer, dominant/defensive behaviour, moodiness).

Bucks can hoik their testicles up into their abdomen leaving empty sacs at will, throughout their lives.
Not all bucks show aggression/spraying even when fertile. I would get a good bunny savvy vet's opinion. Don't leave it to chance.

No, im just concered that he hasnt seemed to have matured, are there signs of them becoming fertile? and no i was not planning to use him for breeding it was just out of interest really.

When you say he hasn't matured, do you mean in terms of his genitals, or just generally in his growth and stature? What breed is he?

At 28 weeks his bits should be pretty obvious, even if he hoiks them back up again sometimes, I'd expect you to be able to see the sacs by now underneath. There's some guidance on sexing here:

Is it possible that he's actually a girl: has it been confirmed that he definitely is a boy? Is there a penis pops out when you press gently near his bits, even if there aren't any testicles obvious?

Or they can suffer from undescended testicles. If this is the case, it's best to get him castrated at a competent vet. Undescended testicles is thought to increase their risk of testicular cancer, testicles are not meant to stay in the body, the temperature is too high for them.

I would pop him along to the vet for them to have a good look and see what they think. Has he had his vaccinations? At 28 weeks it could be a good time for a general health check and any vaccinations if he needs them :)
