Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Can Myxi and VHD vaccinations be done same day

Margret

Warren Scout
Have an appointment at vets tomorrow for Nala to have her boosters done.
It has just come to my mind that when she got her first vaccinations September 2009, I had to have 2 weeks in between Myxi and VHD injections...is this the same for boosters, she has her Myxi every 6 months, so last time was March.
We are going on holiday in 3 weeks time so wanted them done now, so that I could make sure she was well recovered before we go.
If there has to be 2 weeks between, would it be ok to have VHD done tomorrow and the Myxi 2 weeks later.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

 Yes there has to be 2 weeks between them - they are made by different manufacturers so their effectiveness given together has not been tested, so a 14 day gap is needed to make sure they both work.

It shouldn't be a problem to give the VHD first, I'm sure your vet can check the dates on record and advise - it doesn't make any difference to the rabbit which way round it happens :)
