  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Grass

Livi

Alpha Buck
Pip was spayed on Monday, she is in a dog crate indoors, and she has been given spells of free range indoors (in our dining room)....about 4 times a day for an hour to 2 hours at a time.

As its a nice warm day, would it be ok to let her go in her grass run for an hour or so....She is just itching to go back outside (vet advised to keep her in crate for a week as she has a double storey hutch), so I just thought she would appreciate the fresh air etc but am a little worried that maybe she shouldnt be allowed on the grass just yet?

Her wound is very clean and healing perfectly, so I dont see why it would be a problem, but wanted to ask a few members what they think?

We cant really tell you to go against the advice of your Vet.
If h/she specifically advised that your Bun stay confined for 7 days then h/she is the only one to say if going out in the run is OK or not.

Bella and Chloe were out in their run two days after with no problems but there could be a reason your vet has said to do this with your bun. Might be worth calling and asking? When is she due to go back for a check up?

Thanks. She isnt due to go back for a check up now, spayed mon - check up yesterday but because her hutch has a ramp and I cant block it off she advised to keep her in until Monday. Not sure if she was maybe concerned with the wooden 'steps' catching if she runs up & down.

She was very happy with the wound, said it was healing perfectly. I will give them a call now. u/d - vet said thats fine.:D

In the meantime, I must admit I have let her out, she has only been out 10 mins or so, but seems so happy to be out....wont leave her out too long though and will see what the vet says in a min.
