i noticed this morning that rex my male dutch wasn't his usual self.
his rear end is wet and he is off his food and drink (i have since gave him a syringe critical care and water)
his bottom area is clean, no poop , but all wet , like he has sat in a puddle, i think he is leaking , not full on wetting himself,
he has only had a single poop today as in 1 ball,
he was acting like he just couldnt get comfortable at all, i took him to the vet, he has no temp, she said she could feel poop inside but it felt fine, there was nothing to give her cause for concern, she gave him an injection ?????? and told me to take him back tomorrow, any ideas anyone what could be wrong with poor old rex ..
thanks

Is your vet rabbit savvy? Just because not pooping in itself is a cause for concern. I'm in no way qualified, this is just my opinion, but I'd try to see another vet asap

What was the 'injection' the Vet gave

Did Vet test a urine sample for infection/ examine his bladder for sludge/stones ?

Did Vet look for any neurological abnormalities, any hind leg weakness ?

she didnt say what the injection was, she had a good feel of the abdomen , i told her that the bottom end was wet but wasn't sure if he had sat in something so i washed his bottom end myself but told her that it hadn't dried off at all, she put a theremometer up his bottom and that came back normal, she didnt check urine tho, apparently she is a small animal specialist ?

I would perhaps ring again and say you are worried. Maybe ask what he was given? With his symptoms, most vets will give painkillers and gut motility drugs to get him eating. If he has a wet bum, I would imagine that most vets would at least have a look at it.

In the meantime, I would keep him indoors (with his bunny friend if he has one) if possible to keep him warm and keep tempting him with his favourite foods.

Lots of vibes,

i have separated him from coco, so i can see what he is eating and passing do you think i should put them back together

I probably would now you have been to the vets (although you were right to monitor what he was doing) . I find that when my rabbits are ill, having their partner with them helps them to recover (they are usually pretty gentle when one is ill).

i have put them back together now and coco is giving him a lick, i will be dreading the morning look now, he looks so vacant:(

What time did he see the vet and has he improved at all since the injection? Is he still wet underneath? Does it smell of urine.
If he is still not eating or pooing now then I would be tempted to see an emergency vet if you can. Failing that if no improvement in the morning I'd take him straight back.
Sending lots of vibes for Rex x

thanks for all your help, he improved over night and i popped him back to the vets in the morning and she gave him another gut stimulating injection and he is back to normal now , phew !!:D
