  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

eye question

Bonnie has a reddend area around her eye shes had it for a couple of days. the eye itself is clear, but the reddened area looks asthough it has a small amount of yellowish/creamy coming from it. Bonnie in herself is fine shes eating, playing and doing everything she usually does. I have been cleaning her eye gently with boiled water (cooled obviously).
any ideas?

Sounds like a bacterial infection to me- You need some meds from a vets. I have tried the home remedy of golden eye, but you have to do this for atleast 7 days. The best med in my opinion for eye problems which has cleared up two of my lot is Tiacil. You probably need a couple of bottles. Ask vets about it.

Ambience xx

P.s Remeber to let the vet diagnose it before you try any home remedy type stuff.

I would take her to the vets. You dont know what it is and what has caused it and you cant be too careful with eyes.

Thanks all of you. Took Bon to the vets this morning she's got an eye infection, eye drops and antibiotics and back to the vets on Monday for a check. She was not very pleased about being examined though:roll::love:
