  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rabbit specialist vets in the north east

Hi guys,
does anyone know of a good bunny vet around Middlesbrough. I'm not quite convinced with my own vet, and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi, I'm a bit further north than you but I use Croft vets as they do have a rabbit specialist. They have quite a few branches but I'm not sure how far down they come - I think they have a website.
You could always ring and ask them if they know of any vets nearer your way.

Thank you, but unfortunately after a long battle with abscesses and infections my boy died this morning. He seemed as though he was getting better, but this morning he was floppy, not interested in eating or drinking. He started having twitches and lifting his head right back. Then he cried for about a minute, closed his eyes and went.

Oh I'm so sorry, it sounds like he was a really poorly boy.
At least you were with him
big hugs

He did seem like he was getting better, he had lost a lot of weight although he was eating. I think there may have been an underlying cause, but I feel like my vets were a little bit useless and hadn't explored anything, or conducted blood tests
