  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Post Spay Drug - Loxy-??

shay

Warren Scout
Pebbles has had her spay today and I've just spoken with the nurse. She's not eaten at the moment and it's been agreed for me to collect her at 4pm and try coaxing her to eat in her own environment, which I'm happy to do.

She also had at least one spur filed on her molars.

What the main question is, I'm to be given a drug called 'loxy-something'. It's not licensed for use in small animals so I have to sign a consent form.

Apparently, it's similar to metacam, so basically, is this drug safe for Pebbles??

Sorry to ask a question that's probably already been asked, but I'm worried !

Phew, that's a relief.

I've just tried googling but could only find loxy-vet.

Just need to get her home and eating now. I have all her favourites ready and will take them with me. I left a spring green, hay and her pellets there but she's not interested.

It did seem awfully 'barky' in the background so I would think that's stressing her. The blackbirds in the garden scare her

And thank you Jacks-Jane, I was hoping you'd be logged on as I know you're very knowledgeable in the bunny-drug area!
