  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Questionn?

Well.
I have a one year old male Rabbit.
He;s Getting quite agressive.
He hardley let'sme stroke him then pick him up
and its getting a struggle to get his nails clipped.
i've tried bonding etc
Think bout neture is this Good or bad ?:)

Hi:wave:
Yes getting him neutered would most definately make him better:D
You would then be able to bond him with a spayed female:D

Having him neutered will make him a completely different bun! :D It'll take about two months for his hormones to calm down, but he should be a lot calmer, as a result!

Hi

Agree with all previous posts but remember to allow 6 weeks or so after neutering for hormones to die down and therefore before a) seeing the full change and b) getting him a friend

Let us know how you get on :D

Thankyouu :)
shall get him booked tommara Or monday :)

He will need lots of TLC after the op so be sure to look up threads on neutering bucks too or do another thread. Neutering might not be the only solution though here, if he is aggressive when being picked up then try to avoid it, get his nails done at the vets when he is vaccinated.

To bond with him, let him come to you, go to his level and stay still, ideally lie down so he will feel safe. Try to keep your movement relatively slow aswell and speak to him when approaching him so he isn't startled at all. Hand feeding spring greens and his herbs etc is good aswell :)

Some buns are naturally stroppy so neutering may not be a "magic cure" but I would definitely recommend it anyway - it will make him calmer and happier, and you could also then consider getting another bun to keep him company :)

Check round a few vets to see how experienced they are with neutering rabbits and to get their advice on aftercare. good luck
