  • Please Note - Medical Advice

    Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

    You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

    We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

    Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Concerned about Treacle now.

Treacle has had a very wet bottom for the last few days- really wet. Treacle is nearly 7 and had a dental about 6 months ago, we had bloods done and they were fine. She was a wet just before the dental and a I took her into the vet and she was given antibiotics, she cleared up fine. She is well in herself, eating and hopping around as usual.
I know I need to consider arthritis and cystitis but if she needs another dental could this be contributing to it- the vet did say she would need fairly regular dental treatment. I have booked her in for tomorrow anyway, but could this be a factor.

I don't know the answer to your question, sorry, but didn't want to read and run. :oops:

Sending lots of vibes though. xxxx

Thank you.

Treacle was much wetter this morning and the vet is treating for cystitis initially, she is on antibiotics, if there is no sign of improvement she must go back in and we will look into it further. She was very good at the vets and her teeth are OK just now, we much take her back in a couple of months for a re examine. I must no wash her bottom and I nipped up to the main branch to by some rearguard.
One question, if I am washing her daily am I then safe to reapply more rearguard each time?

I hope the antibiotics help. :love:

Re. the rearguard, I remember Liz (Hugo's There) mentioning it in the past. I can't remember quite what she said about it :oops: :oops: but I think she was wondering whether it was worth using on a bun who needed daily bum washes, since the product would be washed straight away. :? I'm sure Liz wouldn't mind you pm'ing to ask her what she decided was for the best in the end. ;)

Sending more vibes too. :love::love:
