Hello there,
This is a really difficult threat to write but 1wk ago my beloved Netherland Dwarf Randal passed away after a series of fits. Whilst he was never a full picture of health but he bravely fought for the full three years of his life and passed away. He was a cluster epileptic after a possible head injury when he was a little boy and on Sunday night he had 15 fits in the space of 3hrs so we took him to the OOH vets who gave him Diazepam and advised he would come round within an hr, 8hrs later he appeared to come around then all of a sudden his front legs went limp and he passed away in our arms. We are absolutely devastated as he was the light of our lives and today is the first time I feel able to write about it I was just wondering if anybody else had had an epileptic rabbit and what their experiences were of it? Also, has anybody elses vet ever given their rabbit diazepam for fits or for anything else as when he wasnt coming around I recalled the vet and spoke to a different vet who advised that he had never given a rabbit diazepam and now I am wondering if the vet did the right thing giving him this or if diazepam could have caused his death? We are really struggling without him and the flat feels so unbelievably empty without his beautiful and perfect little persona. Also, we have his friend Spike with us who is really lost without him and mourning him, and she seems to have developed softer stools since he died, not diarrhoea but much softer stools than she has had before and I was wondering if anyone elses rabbit has ever developed softer stools in response to the grief of losing a friend??
I know that he is on rainbow bridge waiting for me but his personality is sorely missed and I am struggling to cope without him
Cheers
