Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Is golden eye dibrompropamidine isentionate safe for use on bunnies?

I just looked on my golden eye ointment and noticed it's not chloramphenicol. It isdibrompropamidine isetionate 0.15%. I gave this last night as i ran out of Exocin and the vet said as long as i give seven days it would be fine.
However, i am worried now that this med may be unsafe for buns. They do seem fine on it, and i am treating a bacterial eye infection, so i'm not sure if i should continue or discontinue and get the other version. Does anyone know if this one mentioned above is safe for bunnies?

Thanks alot

I've been told its safe to use. It cleared up Jez's eye infection. I used the ointment rather than the drops.

Just checking, are we talking about the human version?

Thanks yes. There are two versions though one is chloramphenicol active ingredient 1% and this is dibromopropamidine isethionate 0.15%. So was just checking it's still okay. They are both human versions just with different ingredients. They seemed fine yesterday on it. No adverse reactions or anything.
